We doubt God either when His promises seem to good to be true or we get our eyes on our circumstances, or both. It's also important to know the difference between doubt and unbelief, and while doubt leads to unbelief ultimately; they are not the same thing.

In John 1: 19-34 we read about John the Baptist, a man on fire for God and His Messiah, recognizing by the power of The Holy Spirit, who The Lamb of God is.

In Matthew 11: 1-14 we see something different. We see someone thrown into prison for serving God and looking at his circumstances, asking questions. "Are You who You really say You are or am I looking for another?" Did I get it wrong, did I misunderstand God?

Jesus' reply is for John's disciples to take the report back of all the miracles that are being done and a message, "blessed are those who are not offended in me." and then Jesus begins to tell everyone just how great John the Baptist is!

Jesus let John know that He understood our doubts when times are difficult or things happen that we didn't expect or understand. But His encouragement for us is not to be offended with Him but to keep our faith in Him because in the end no matter what happens we win! Because He won!

We've learned that God creates the fruit of the lips in Isiah 57:19 and in this sermon coming this week we'll be finding out what the fruit of our lips should be in the life of a Christian and if you'll read Hebrews chapter 13 you'll read moral directions for the church; then in verse 15 what it all boils down to! The thing that should be continually in our mouths!

Proverbs Wisdom

These past few weeks we've been learning about our mouth and how important it is to speak words of life and not death. Please look up a few versus in the book of Proverbs and think about just how important what we continually say is; wether positive or negative and take a good look at Proverbs 29:11 and commit it to memory. I promise if you do it will change your life!

1 Corinthians 13

To go along with this week's sermon, let's look at 1 Corinthians chapter thirteen. It's important to know what love means in the biblical context and not what the world says love is. Let's look up a few of the words like patient, kind, vaunts, puffed up, to get the full "meat" from the words. It's also important to know that this type of love is the foundation for all spiritual gifts and this must be our motivation in serving God as his ministers. You might be thinking that you're not a minister? Everyone who calls himself/herself a christian is. It says in Revelation, I have called you a nation of kings and priests. We're called to serve the Lord with a servant's heart and to minister to all those around us wether it's co workers, family but especially those who are part of the household of faith!

This week let's read Isaiah 53 for a review and then read Isaiah 54. In chapter 54 we see our position in Christ after His resurrection and the blood of His sacrifice is accepted by God the Father! This is where we discover that "No weapon formed against us will prosper", and how God gathers us with "great mercies".

To put that in perspective, 800 years ago the year was 1209. America wouldn't even be discovered for almost 300 years. Let's study the 53 rd chapter of Isaiah this week and see how accurate it is about predicting the coming of Jesus, His suffering, and His victory over sin for us. Then if you'd like to read the 54 th chapter, you'll see God's position toward us after the sacrifice is accepted! We'll also see what our heritage is as children of God through the blood of Jesus Christ!

In today's job market it seems everyone is looking for the best job with the best benefits. When they get a job they carefully go over the benefits package!

Now there's nothing wrong with wanting benefits from our jobs and if we get them, to go over them carefully. As Christians we need to not forget the "benefits" that come with a relationship with God!

Let's study all of Psalm 103 and see if God doesn't offer the best benefits package of all time! It's also important when we're going through tough times to remember those benefits! Maybe you don't have a job right now, or you've been looking everywhere for one and you're not getting a break, so you don't have a retirement plan or health insurance, God provides it!

Now I'm not advocating not planning for your financial future but when we're going through those tough times, if we would just make a list of God's benefits to His children and read them every time we feel discouraged we would always have our joy and peace! And that's something no one can take away from you,.... unless you let them.
